First, a portion of your every-day online purchases will be donated
to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Second, you will find the
same great coupons for your favorite online merchants here as you will
find at similar sites. If you don't, send us an email and let us know
which merchants we need to add. Third, by using this site, you are
helping to fund a good cause rather than helping to fund some of the other coupon
site owners' wallets.
No. It costs you absolutely nothing and in fact you will save money
by clicking on the various coupons listed on this site. The merchants
do not charge you anything extra because you came from this site.
The percentage of each purchase that is donated to the National MS
Society is based on the percentage of your purchase that each online
merchant pays this website as a commission for generating that sale.
We donate a majority of these commissions
received from the merchants on this site to the NMSS but must retain a
small portion to maintain this site. In most cases, we retain no
more than 1% of your purchase in order to pay administrative costs of
running this website. The more you shop, the more
we can contribute to the NMSS since our costs to maintain this site are
fixed.
Each merchant has different commission structures. Some merchants that
sell magazine subscriptions and toner cartridges tend to have higher commissions,
while others that sell books and electronics have lower commissions. Also,
some merchants pay varying commission amounts for their own products.
We attempt to balance out these differences when figuring the percentage
that we donate to the NMSS.
The amount that is not donated helps us maintain this site, pay administrative
costs to keep valid, current coupons and offers available, sponsor the
annual MS Walk in Marietta, GA, and to attract new visitors so that we
can continue to increase our donations to the NMSS.
No. Please check with your tax advisor before attempting to deduct
these donations. In general, since shop2curems.org is making the donation
from commissions that are paid to us, you would not be entitled to take
such a deduction.
First, we welcome any donations that you would like to make to help
maintain our site. As of now, the small percentage of the
merchant commissions that we retain does not cover our operating
costs. We anticipate that once operating costs are covered, any
other retained commissions will be used to promote the website through
pay-per-click advertising in order to generate additional traffic and
subsequently, additional donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society. Please check with your tax advisor before attempting to
deduct direct contributions at this time. The
parent company of this site is organized and operated as a Section
501(c)(3) organization (click to view our
formation documents), however we have not yet obtained a letter of
determination from the IRS officially establishing our tax exempt
status due to the costs associated with such determination.
However, under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, any
organization that has annual gross receipts of not more than $5,000
(which is us!) may be considered tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) as
long as it meets other requirements of that section. Within 90
days of the point of this site having gross receipts in excess of
$5,000 (which would include contributions made to the NMSS), we will
file our application for official tax exempt status. Until
that time, deducting contributions to this site is up to the donor,
but is generally safe since we were formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit
corporation, as long as the contribution is less than $250. If
you would like to make a donation in excess of $250, please
contact us.
Once we have a letter of determination, we will provide notice on the
site of our official status as a tax-exempt entity. We accept
secure donations through PayPal by clicking on the button that can be
found at the top-right corner of each page.
No. Unlike other sites, we do not require you to register in order
to use these coupons. All we ask is that you bookmark our site and return every time you want
to make a purchase online. Also, please let your friends and family know
about our site and the cause we support.
We do send a quarterly newsletter to let those who have made
purchases through our site know exactly how much they have helped raise
for the National MS Society. If you would like to sign up for
this newsletter, please click here.
If you would like to receive updates from the National MS Society,
please sign up for their newsletter by going to
the National MS Society's homepage.
The National MS Society uses these funds to support research to find
the cause, cure, and improved treatments of Multiple Sclerosis, provide
services to people with MS and their families, provide professional education
programs to health care providers, and support advocacy efforts to encourage
public policies supportive of the needs of people with Multiple Sclerosis.
To find out more about the National MS Society, go to their site at
www.nationalmssociety.org.
Although we are confident in the security measures that our online
merchant partners take to protect your personal information, we realize
that some of you may not be comfortable making purchases online quite yet. If
this is the case, you can always make
direct financial contributions to the National MS Society or you can
participate in one of their
special fundraising events held nationally each year.
Please contact the merchant with whom you placed the order. We do not take
orders on this site. We only direct you to the merchant sites. Order placement
is then handled exclusively on their site.
